As the world leader in premium spirits, wines and spirits, Pernod Ricard operates across every continent within a regulatory environment that is as demanding as it is varied.

For a group of this size, the whistleblowing system is more than a simple reporting channel. It is a pillar of the Ethics and Compliance programme, at the heart of risk management and international governance.

To support this system on a worldwide scale, the tool in use plays a central role. When the solution originally chosen reached its limits in terms of flexibility and reporting, the group set about developing its system. Since August 2024, Pernod Ricard has relied on Whispli.

What are the challenges of a whistleblowing system rolled out worldwide?

The whistleblowing system holds a central place in our Ethics and Compliance programme. In an international group like ours, it has to allow for simple, secure reporting while fitting into a complex organisation. In practice, this comes down to three major challenges.

Accessibility for whistleblowers

A simple way to lodge an alert, with clear tracking of how it is handled, and a smooth, secure exchange with case managers.

The flexibility of the solution

Our model relies on an initial review at head office, followed by investigations that are mostly carried out locally. We cannot make do with rigid automation; we need to keep the ability to adapt on a case-by-case basis, to avoid conflicts of interest and guarantee the independence of investigations.

The strategic dimension and reporting

A single report can be interpreted in different ways. We need to be able to consolidate the data, analyse trends and present a clear, actionable view to the governing bodies.

Between reorganisations, changes in scope and new regulations, the group is constantly evolving. Our system therefore has to be able to adapt quickly to these changes.
